nexpay has taken it upon ourselves to support the drive for reducing CO2 emissions we produce as a card payment company.
Our business is to provide rich payment data to all of our merchants to help them gain insight into consumer spending habits and use smart AI to identify growth avenues that may have never before been considered which requires energy and computing power.
What changes have we made?
The first stage has been to change our server provider to UKFast.
We chose to upgrade to UKFast as they are pioneers in carbon-efficient hosting solutions.
Data centres are necessary for housing our servers and therefore crucial to our business, as UKFast are the 1st carbon neutral hosting company in the UK, our choice to partner with them was ultimately down to this vitally important reason.
Why was this a concern?
Data centres use a large amount of energy and emit tonnes of CO2 every year. In fact, data centres worldwide are expected to generate 533 million tonnes of CO2 by 2020 (Carbon Trust).
What does this mean for nexpay?
Our clients and stakeholders can be rest assured when using our merchant account and analytics reporting that our hosting partner provides 100% Carbon neutral data centres and hosting solutions.
We are also impressed by UKFast using hydro-power renewable energy schemes which reduce greenhouse gas emissions by displacing power from higher-emission fossil fuel sources on the regional electric grid.
